Nasdaq falls more than 3% at the open after the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Nasdaq Composite Index on Wall Street fell more than 3 percent at the open on Wall Street on Thursday, plunging more than 20 percent from its record closing high reached last November, after Russia launched an all-out invasion of Ukraine.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.91 percent at the beginning of the trading session to 32,830.33 points, falling more than 10 percent from its record closing level recorded on the fourth of January.

The benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 index started the session down 1.65 percent to 4,155.77 points, while the Nasdaq plunged 3.45 percent to 12,587.88 points.

The three indices increased their losses in early trading.
