A technology called "NFT" that proves that digitally processed works are not duplicates but originals is about to spread to the sports business.

Rakuten Group and J.League will use this technology to sell videos of famous soccer games.

NFT is an authentication technology that proves that it is original rather than counterfeit or duplicated when buying and selling digitized works and products on the net, and has recently been used in transactions such as art and fashion, as well as professionals. Player videos are also available for sale in the Pacific League of baseball.

Using this technology, Rakuten Group will start selling videos and images together with soccer and J League.

In addition to video data of famous plays during J-League games, digital art with designer images processed will be sold and will start from April.

In anticipation of the expansion of the digital production market, Rakuten wants to capture demand through soccer, which has a wide fan base, and to make the J League a new source of income as the number of spectators decreases with the new Corona.

In the United States, there are cases where digital images of major league players are traded at high prices of 10 million yen or more, and new authentication technology in the digital field is about to spread to the sports business.
