The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority launches the fifth edition of the “UAE Hackathon”

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government stated that the country's continuous adoption of innovation policies and trends has strengthened its leadership in many competitive centers at the global level, especially in the telecommunications and smart services sectors.

She indicated during a press conference held yesterday entitled "Innovation in Digital Transformation", as part of the "UAE Innovation Month", that the authority had recently launched the fifth edition of the "UAE Hackathon" to support innovation among entrepreneurs and emerging companies.

In detail, Mohammed Al Ketbi, Deputy Director General of the Communications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government for the Support Services Sector, said: "The UAE has made remarkable achievements in many areas related to innovation in government work, and the communications and information technology sector."

He added, "With a quick look at the list of the many indicators in which the UAE achieved the first positions in the world, we find that the UAE has become in itself a story of innovation that began its first chapters with the establishment of our lofty union at the hands of the founding fathers."

Al Ketbi pointed out that "the authority contributes through several initiatives that it is working to implement by supporting innovation initiatives, most notably the UAE Hackathon, the fifth of which was recently launched within the activities of the UAE Innovation Month," noting that "the UAE Hackathon supports the concepts of innovation among pioneers. Business and emerging companies through innovative project ideas participating from across the Emirates of the country in the (hackathon), which represents one of the largest competitive events that encourage innovation in the country, as it motivates and inspires participants to provide innovative solutions based on the analysis of digital data, and take advantage of emerging technologies to find solutions to the challenges facing various Governmental and public bodies and institutions.

He added, "The authority is always working to cooperate with all government parties, and to document our joint work with our network of partners from the private sector and international institutions, and at the same time we do not focus only on adopting innovation in work mechanisms and services provided to customers."
