Composed of 102 journalists from 33 countries, the World Car Awards jury elected Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President of Design and Chief Creative Officer of the Hyundai Group, World Car Person of the Year 2022. To be eligible, candidates for the award must have made a significant contribution to the automotive industry, involving global repercussions.

Formerly a designer within the Volkswagen Group, the Belgian was chosen by the jury because he took responsibility for the design of several new and highly innovative models, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Genesis GV60 and the Kia EV6, all launched during of the last year.

Additionally, its Restomod Pony and Grandeur models paid homage to Korea's automotive heritage, often unknown to the general public.

One more distinction for Luc Donckerwolke, whose career began in the 90s.
