Last month's domestic shipments of digital home appliances such as TVs and recorders fell by more than 8% from the same month of the previous year, when demand for nesting increased significantly, falling for the seventh straight month.

However, the number of TVs shipped is still at a high level due to the progress of replacement by purchase.

According to JEITA = Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, which is made by electrical equipment manufacturers, the domestic shipment value of digital home appliances was 96.1 billion yen last month, a decrease of 8.4% from the same month of the previous year.

This is due to the reaction to the fact that the demand for nesting in the nest due to the influence of the new corona increased by more than 10% in January last year, and the shipment value has fallen below the previous year for 7 consecutive months.

By product, "video equipment" such as TVs and recorders decreased by 8.9% from the same month of the previous year.

However, the number of TVs shipped is 395,000, and although the demand for nesting has subsided, it is the third highest level in 10 years as the replacement of products purchased in the past is progressing.

In addition, the shipment value of "automobile-related equipment" such as car navigation systems decreased by 9.3% from the previous year, which means that it is affected by the reduction in production of automobiles.

Regarding the outlook for the future, JEITA says, "10 years have passed since the terrestrial digitalization, and it is expected that replacement of TVs, mainly large ones, will continue to be firm."
