ANA Holdings Inc., a major aviation company, has decided to collaborate with an American venture company that is developing the aircraft to verify whether the so-called "flying car" can be commercialized in Japan.

ANA Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding with the American venture company "Joby Aviation" to verify the commercialization of so-called "flying cars" that take off and land vertically like drones.

The aircraft under development by this company is said to reach a maximum speed of 320 km / h for five people. For example, the time required from Osaka Station to Kansai Airport is about 15 minutes, which is about 1 for a normal car. It means that you can save a lot of time.

The two companies will cooperate in investigating whether there is a business need and training pilots.

In the future, we are also considering cooperation with ground transportation, and Toyota Motor Corporation, which has invested in this venture company, will also participate in the efforts of both companies.

Regarding flying cars, the government is making rules with the goal of commercialization by the end of 2023, and Honda, Japan Airlines, etc. are entering the market one after another.
