A quantum computer with much higher computing power than a supercomputer.

In order to catch up with international competition, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has decided to attract leading American companies and establish a new R & D base at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Quantum computers are said to be capable of performing calculations that take 10,000 years on supercomputers in minutes.



Expectations are rising that it will become an important technology that will lead to the competitiveness of companies in the near future, such as the development of new drugs, risk calculation of financial institutions, and analysis of the causes of aircraft failures.



In this field, the United States and China are strengthening development.
