The director of the Gulfood 2022 exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Center, Mark Neeper, confirmed that business activities in the 27th session of the exhibition specialized in the food and beverage industries recorded similar levels to before the “Covid 19” pandemic, both in terms of exhibitor participation and country pavilions, or exhibition visit rates. .

He explained to "Emirates Today" that the exhibition management monitored the registration of dealers from more than 194 countries to visit the exhibition, which indicates the extent of the interest of workers in the food industries sectors globally to participate in the exhibition's work, and to overcome the repercussions of the pandemic.

He expected the total number of visitors to exceed 100,000 during the current session, pointing out that the total number of participating companies exceeded 4000 companies from 120 countries, while the total area of ​​the exhibition reached one million square feet.

He pointed out that the exhibition recorded the participation of five new pavilions for the countries: Dominican Republic, Norway, Uruguay, Panama, and Uzbekistan. It is also witnessing the launch of new products, such as the first butter manufactured without carbon emissions, natural body tonics made from British honey, as well as the presentation of the first product of honey. "Manuka Factor +20" comes in easy-to-carry spoons.

He explained that the exhibition is witnessing the "Gulfood Initiative to Reduce Food Waste," which includes collecting food waste and converting it into basic fertilizer and organic by-products to fertilize the soil in local farms.

He pointed to the launch of the Gulfood Awards to reduce food waste in several categories, including: change makers to reduce food waste, community cooperation, growth in the sector, the most influential initiative, and the champion to reduce food waste, explaining that instead of distributing traditional prizes to the winners. Gulfood will plant trees for each winning entity.
