Mazda has been wanting to move upmarket for some time.
To do this, the brand will market two SUVs that will place themselves above the current CX-5 and the imminent CX-50.
The first of these, the CX-60, will be unveiled on March 8.
In the meantime, a photo of one of its headlights has just been published and it seems that this new model is aesthetically close to the CX-5.
The biggest novelty lies in the fact that it will carry a rechargeable hybrid engine, a first for the Hiroshima brand.
A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is paired with an electric powertrain, all delivering a combined output of over 300hp.
Data that is reminiscent of the Toyota Rav4 system for example, but the two brands are closer than ever.
Later, Mazda will market the CX-80, a larger format SUV (7 seats) which will also benefit from plug-in mechanics.
