Songgai Ancient Town Scenic Spot is located in Songgai Town, Yongchuan District. It is named Songgai because of the Songzi Mountain and irrigation water in the territory. It has been set up as a county twice in history.
In 2008, Songgai Ancient Town was selected into the fourth batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China, and was successively rated as one of the top ten charming towns in Chongqing, one of the top ten most beautiful ancient towns in Chongqing, and a small town with the most humanistic value in Chongqing. Songgai Ancient Town was once known as "Nine Palaces and Eighteen Temples". After the protection and renovation of the ancient town, the original features of the Kuixing Pavilion and the Jade Emperor Temple were preserved, and the renovation of the walls, roofs, doors and windows along the street was completed.
