On January 26, local time, the WTO announced that China could impose tariffs on US$645 million worth of US imports each year.

The trade dispute ruling began in 2012, when China took the United States to the WTO over countervailing tariffs on Chinese products such as solar panels.

The WTO has previously ruled that the relevant US measures violated WTO rules and were supported by the Appellate Body.
