The scale for calculating the mileage allowance for taxable households declaring their professional expenses will be "raised by 10%", in order to cope with the rise in fuel prices. A measure which concerns the French declaring their income at actual costs and will be applied when declaring next April.

Faced with rising fuel prices, the government has decided.

The scale for calculating the mileage allowance for taxable households declaring their professional expenses will be "raised by 10%", Jean Castex announced on Tuesday.

This increase should be formalized "this week" by a decree, said the Prime Minister during the session of questions to the government at the Assembly.

A reduction in taxes of 150 euros on average per household

This measure concerns French people who declare their income at real costs, that is to say who deduct professional expenses themselves from their income, such as meals, uniforms, removals or finally mileage costs, i.e. what their costs the journey between their home and their place of work.

These mileage costs are calculated according to a scale, revalued by 10%, and applied when you file your tax return next April on the kilometers traveled in 2021.

The gain therefore depends on the number of kilometers traveled, the power of your vehicle and its age.

But according to Bercy's calculations, this represents an average tax cut of 150 euros per household.

Beyond this tax rebate, the Prime Minister also invited companies to revalue their mileage scale for employees who use their personal vehicle.
