While food prices are rising one after another due to soaring raw material prices, Kagome will start raising ketchup prices from April.

This is the first time in seven years that the price has been raised because the import price of tomato, which is the raw material, is rising.

According to Kagome's announcement, the price will be raised to 125 items for home and business use, such as tomato puree and tomato sauce, in addition to the main tomato ketchup.

The price will be increased by about 3% to 9% from the delivery on April 1, and the price of tomato ketchup will be increased for the first time in about 7 years since April 2015 for both home and business use.

The company cites that the procurement price of tomatoes and tomato paste imported from overseas is rising as the reason for the price increase, and the number of people who cook at home with corona damage is increasing, and tomatoes used as seasonings etc. We believe that the background is the rapid expansion of demand and the decrease in harvests in some overseas production areas due to unseasonable weather.

Among food manufacturers, not only the price of raw materials but also the cost of transportation and materials is increasing, which is a factor in the price increase, and it seems that the burden on households will increase more and more.
