Canon's withdrawal from Zhuhai should not be described as "malicious compensation"

The public should be happy with Canon's performance, not malicious speculation.

Some time ago, Canon announced the closure of its Zhuhai factory, which had been in operation for 32 years, arousing the attention of the Internet.

What attracts more attention is Canon Zhuhai's generous financial compensation to employees.

According to Canon Zhuhai's announcement, the compensation is divided into five parts: economic compensation, special consolation, employment support, gratitude and memory, and Spring Festival condolences.

Regarding the economic compensation for the termination of the labor contract, the calculation standard stipulated in the "Labor Contract Law" is that if the average monthly salary of employees is three times higher than the local social average wage, the amount of three times is used as the upper limit, and the maximum number of years of service is 12. Years, but Canon Zhuhai does not set the upper limit in this preferential treatment plan.

This compensation has received a lot of praise, and some netizens commented that it is a model of "happy breakup".

However, there are also different voices, saying that this is "malicious compensation", deliberately raising the compensation standard of domestic companies and "disturbing" the market environment, it seems that Canon has bad intentions.

For a while, the "malicious compensation" argument spread widely, but this argument against common sense is obviously untenable.

Under the conditions of a market economy, it is normal for enterprises to rise and fall.

Because of the impact of smartphones on the camera market, Canon chose to close the Zhuhai factory, which was determined based on market choices and business conditions.

Canon's compensation may be higher than the legal standard, but it's not difficult to understand.

The bottom line is stipulated by the law. Enterprises increase their weight on this standard. The reasons may be diverse, or because of corporate culture, or because of strong financial resources. Of course, utilitarian thinking, it may also be through building corporate reputation and corporate image to obtain long-term returns.

But in any case, the company treats employees more kindly, and the two sides part ways peacefully, which is worthy of encouragement.

It is obviously inappropriate to judge Canon's severance compensation with the theory of severance.

People have the same heart and the same reason. If you replace yourself as an employee who is about to leave, who doesn't want to have adequate compensation for their labor, and who doesn't want to have a sense of security?

From an objective point of view, Canon's compensation standard is indeed higher than its peers, which may cause certain "pressure" to other companies.

But don't worry too much, Canon voluntarily, but will not and cannot force other companies to "copy homework".

In fact, my country's laws and regulations have very detailed provisions on the economic compensation of laborers, and the calculation amount is not low. A considerable number of provisions are biased towards the protection of laborers' rights and interests.

For example, when the employee leaves the company, "if the employee is in the unit for more than six months but less than one year, it will be calculated as one year; if it is less than six months, the employee will be paid half a month's salary as economic compensation", etc., which are more beneficial to the laborer.

If the company can make full compensation in accordance with the law, even if it is not as generous as Canon, it has fulfilled its corporate responsibility and is also decent.

Therefore, the public should be happy to see Canon's performance, and slander is clearly not an appropriate judging gesture.

At the same time, this incident is also a reminder that Canon's compensation is more than the legal provisions. It is not that companies with different situations and different financial resources are required to set high standards, but they should focus on the word "legal provisions".

These four words are the bottom line requirements that enterprises must not break through.
