Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Promote the improvement of the supply capacity of the entire chip industry chain

The problem of "lack of cores" in the automotive field is gradually easing

Yesterday, the State Information Office held a press conference to introduce the development of industry and informatization in 2021.

According to Tian Yulong, chief engineer and spokesman of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 9.6% year-on-year last year, with an average growth of 6.1% in the two years.

In the third quarter of last year, the industrial growth rate once declined. In the fourth quarter, with the effect of my country's policies and measures to stimulate the industrial economy, the downward trend has been reversed, and the industrial economic growth rate has gradually picked up.

In terms of industrial transformation and upgrading, Tian Yulong pointed out that in 2021, the pace of digital transformation of the manufacturing industry will be accelerated, the innovation and development of the industrial Internet will achieve remarkable results, the network platform security system has been established, and 20 typical application scenarios and 10 "5G + Industrial Internet" have been formed. Practical activities in key industry fields, and the level of innovative application is in the first echelon in the world.

In addition, emerging industries have maintained rapid development, especially the rapid development of new energy vehicles. In 2021, production and sales will exceed 3.5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times.

In 2021, the global integrated circuit manufacturing capacity will continue to be tight, and all walks of life are facing the problem of "lack of cores", which will have a greater impact on the development performance of the global industry.

In particular, the auto industry has been hit the hardest, and many domestic auto companies have experienced production reductions or short-term production stoppages.

Luo Junjie, a spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau, said that the problem of "lack of cores" in the automotive field is gradually easing, but for a long period of time in the future, the supply of chips will still be in a state of tension.

In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will strengthen communication and cooperation with relevant countries and regions, encourage key enterprises at home and abroad to increase investment as a whole, and promote the improvement of the supply capacity of the entire chip industry chain.
