Etihad Airways continues to operate flights for passengers using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The “fifth generation” suspends “Emirates Airlines” flights to American destinations

Emirates Airlines announced that it will suspend its flights to a number of destinations in the United States, starting from January 20, 2022.

The carrier added, in a statement on its website, that the suspension came due to operational concerns related to plans to deploy the fifth generation of mobile phone network services in some American airports, pointing out that the destinations include: Chicago, Dallas, Fort Worth, Miami, Newark, Orlando, Seattle.

Emirates Airlines stated that customers whose reservations have been canceled can reach their final destination through one of Emirates’ other stations in the United States, with its partners within the “code-sharing” agreement via Jet Blue or Alaska.

Emirates Airlines confirmed the continuation of its flights to: New York, John F. Kennedy, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC, according to the usual schedule.

And it stated that it will operate during the current period the following flights to Boston, Houston and San Francisco, as follows: January 20, 2022: flights (EK 237 from Dubai to Boston), (EK 225 from Dubai to San Francisco), (EK 211 from Dubai to Houston).

On January 21, 2022: (EK 238 from Boston to Dubai), (EK 226 from San Francisco to Dubai), and (EK 212 from Houston to Dubai).

It added that other flights to these destinations will remain suspended.

Emirates Airlines expressed its regret for any inconvenience to customers, noting that it is working closely with aircraft manufacturers and relevant authorities to alleviate operational concerns, and hopes to resume its services to these destinations as soon as possible.

In addition, a spokesman for "Etihad Airways" said that the company is currently continuing to operate flights for passengers to New York, Washington DC, and Chicago, via the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

In response to Emirates Today's questions, the spokesman explained that the United States' plan to operate the fifth generation networks will not have any impact on passenger flights operated by the company at the present time.
