As noted, the US authorities have held talks with some international energy companies on the situation with the import of natural gas to Europe in the event that "the conflict between Russia and Ukraine disrupts the supply."

According to the agency, the companies told the State Department that global gas supplies are limited, and there are not enough fuel reserves to replace Russian gas.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia and Gazprom bear no responsibility for the energy crisis in Europe.

As of January 14, European underground gas storage facilities were already more than 50% empty.
