Encouraging figures, given the fact that the Livret A recorded its last increase in... 2011. Since then, it has continued to decrease to reach 0.5% in 2020. Experts, however, put this growth into perspective for French savings.

“On average, on the Livret A, there are around 6000 euros”, details Maxime Chipoy.

"6,000 euros, when you have half a point of interest, on top of that, that's 30 euros a year. So it's not amazing either. And then, it's only an average. must not forget that between 30% and 40% of Livrets A have less than 150 euros in outstandings. Quite simply, it will be almost nothing gained for these French people. 

A safe haven investment

Despite a low level of remuneration at 0.5%, the Livret A, which is used in particular to finance social housing in France, has become a safe haven investment for savers during the health crisis which has seen its outstandings jump. .

But since May, net inflows have slowed markedly, while consumption has picked up and inflation has picked up.
