The current Ford Ranger still has some nice remains and continues to crush the competition.
But as the future model is only scheduled for mid-2023, Ford is maintaining interest with a range of special series, paying particular attention to the type of user targeted.
The first version is called Wolftrak, a version equipped with the "smallest" engine in the range, a 4-cylinder 2-litre diesel that still offers 170 horsepower.
This is a rather utilitarian version.
Undoubtedly a bit more refined, the version called Stormtrak receives more sought-after decorative and comfort elements (such as leather upholstery), or even an electrified rolling shutter for the tray.
It doesn't look like much but it's really practical to use.
Only downside, this version is only available in high-end double cabin finish, and with the 213 horsepower biturbo diesel associated with a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
The timeless Raptor
Forget (a little) the utility side of the pick-up, and enjoy the imposing look of the famous Raptor, here in its SE version for "Special Edition". Its specificities are mainly aesthetic modifications, such as these "Racing" strips which cross it from the bonnet to the tailgate. For the rest, it is still a bodybuilt Ranger with fenders widened by 15 cm and suspensions raised by 5.1 cm. The least we can write is that it imposes on the road! Like the Stormtrack, the Raptor SE is only available as a crew cab and with the 213 hp diesel.
More offset from the initial vocation of the Ranger, the MS-RT version pays tribute to the know-how of Ford engineers in motorsport, particularly in rallying.
Derived from the Wildtrak version, this MS-RT benefits from a specific bodywork and large 20-inch OZ rims.
In the end, there are therefore four versions, four atmospheres, and as many ways of seeing the road and the trails other than by the eternal SUVs.
The Ranger will return in a completely new guise next year, but the generation being celebrated here is definitely worth more than just a glance.
