On May 18, 2021, the duty room of the Shenzhen Municipal Emergency Management Bureau received a report that the Saige Building, Huaqiangbei Street, Futian District, Shenzhen, was shaking.

A large number of surrounding citizens ran out of the building.

Since then, SEG Plaza Building has carried out a series of experiments and tests such as vibration test.

An expert group composed of academicians of the Academy of Engineering and survey designers stated that the coupling of wind-induced vortex-induced resonance of the mast and changes in the dynamic characteristics of the building and the mast caused the perceived vibration of the SEG Plaza Building; the removal of the mast can effectively solve the problem of the SEG Plaza Building. In response to vibration problems, the original lightning protection and navigation mark functions of the mast can be re-arranged on the roof after the mast is removed.

In September last year, the mast of the Shenzhen SEG Plaza Building, which was swaying, was demolished. It has been determined according to scientific procedures that the structure of the building is safe, and the risk of perceivable vibration has been eliminated.

All operations were resumed that month.
