[Concurrent] Cross-border driver Deng Quanyin

Although it is said that (carriage work) has brought me a considerable monthly income, but the epidemic situation there is now more serious, and it also brings a great risk of infection to our car drivers.

[Commentary] The person in the picture is called Deng Quanyin, and his current occupation is a cross-border driver.

Recently, the reporter approached Deng Quanyin to learn about his story of cross-border driving.

[Explanation] Cross-border driver driving is a special occupation derived from the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

In order to prevent the epidemic from importing and exporting through border ports.

China and Vietnam have negotiated that at border ports such as Dongxing and Pingxiang, the inbound and outbound freight vehicles will be driven by cross-border drivers, and the cross-border drivers of China and Vietnam will implement closed-loop management.

[Explanation] In 2021, Deng Quanyin, who originally drove a taxi in Dongxing City, was introduced by a friend to become a full-time cross-border driver.

When I first started (carriage), this generation of drivers was relatively small. At that time, it was between 500 (yuan) and 800 (yuan), and I went and came back after a trip.

[Explanation] On December 21, 2021, after a local case of new coronary pneumonia was confirmed in Dongxing City, Guangxi, Deng Quanyin suspended his cross-border driving service.

  (I) left the country on December 20th on the last day, and (then) the unit informed us to stand by at the hotel. We don’t know how many days we can go out to work normally.

[Commentary] Recalling the life of a proxy driver, Deng Quanyin told reporters that the current situation of overseas epidemics is severe and complicated, and the risk of being infected by a cross-border proxy driver is high.

Therefore, before leaving the country, you must first go to the toilet, drink less water in the car, and try to avoid going to the toilet when you are abroad to reduce the chance of contact with locals.

In addition, apart from going to the toilet, the biggest problem is eating and drinking. To avoid getting off the bus, you have to bring your own food and drink.

If you go there, it’s a bit inconvenient to eat. You can only pack (some food) and put it in the car to eat by yourself. Take it at home or buy it from outside and put it in the car, or bring some dry food on the car. .

[Explanation] According to the data provided by the Dongxing Entry-Exit Border Checkpoint, before the outbreak, about 1,000 trucks entered and exited each day at the peak of Dongxing Port.

Deng Quanyin introduced that in Dongxing, there are hundreds of drivers working as cross-border drivers.

At work, daily exit and entry has become their normal life.

(In the morning) At 8:30, put on your own protective clothing, gloves and glasses, and go to work. After work, go through the (departure) formalities. (Generally) pass around 11 o'clock and return to China around 7:30 in the evening. China Customs will handle (entry) formalities here.

[Explanation] With the fluctuation of the epidemic, Deng Quanyin's driving work has also been affected to a certain extent, but he still cherishes this job very much.

If there is this job for us, it can be said that the increase in this income is quite considerable, and it is not bad to have this job under this situation.

[Explanation] Today, cross-border driver drivers are looking forward to resuming customs clearance and resuming work and production as soon as possible.

They don't understand what their profession means to keep the international supply chain open.

But they know that many of the trucks they drive are mechanical and electrical products. These mechanical and electronic components are produced in Chinese factories and shipped to Vietnam for assembly.

[Explanation] According to the statistics of Guangxi Customs Department, the total value of imports and exports of Dongxing City from January to November 2021 is 18.19 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), of which the total import value is 16.31 billion yuan. The main commodities are: food, fruit, chemical products ; The total export value is 1.88 billion yuan, and the main commodities are mechanical and electrical products, agricultural products, and textiles.
