  On the same day, a total of 378 TEUs of freight trains full of chemicals, motorcycles, auto parts, aluminum products, etc. were sent from Tuanjiecun, Changshou, Orchard, Fuling, and Xiaonanya. The goods will be exported to South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and other RCEP member states.

It is reported that this is the first batch of international freight trains for the new land-sea channel from Chongqing to RCEP member countries after the RCEP agreement takes effect.

  The "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement" (RCEP) is currently the world's largest free trade agreement. It came into effect on January 1, 2022. The total population, economic volume, and total trade volume of the 15 member states account for about 30% of the global total. %.

  According to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, RCEP member countries are Chongqing’s important economic and trade partners.

In the past five years, the scale of import and export trade between Chongqing and RCEP member countries has continued to expand, from 127 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2016 to 204.3 billion yuan in 2020, with an average annual growth rate of 12.6%.

After the RCEP takes effect, more than 90% of the goods trade in the region will eventually achieve zero tariffs, thereby reducing the cost of purchasing zero-tariff products and raw materials in the region, and enterprises will get more benefits from the new tax cuts.

  According to the introduction of the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd., in 2021, the New Land-Sea Corridor will export approximately 30,000 TEUs of goods to RCEP member countries, with a value of 5.014 billion yuan. After the RCEP takes effect, the new land-sea corridor will pass through the rail-sea intermodal train to Vietnam and Laos. Cross-border railway trains, cross-border highway shuttles and other transportation methods can further connect the markets, resources, and industries of countries along the route, and effectively reduce logistics costs in western China and even countries along the route.
