A batch of quick-frozen vegetables with a value of more than US$20,000 from Asia Foods (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. has obtained the RCEP certificate of origin issued by Zhangzhou Customs, and will enter the markets of other RCEP member countries at a lower price and at a faster speed.

  At present, the first batch of countries where the RCEP with 15 member states takes effect includes 6 ASEAN countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, and four countries including China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

After the agreement comes into effect, the approved member parties will implement tax reductions in accordance with the provisions of the agreement and fulfill their commitment to open service investment. More than 90% of the goods trade in the region will eventually achieve zero tariffs.

  Customs officials told reporters from China News Agency that the certificate of origin serves as a certificate for enterprises to enjoy tariff reductions under the Free Trade Agreement, and is called the "economic passport" in the field of international trade; enterprise products can be implemented in the first batch with the RCEP certificate of origin. The other 9 member states enjoy import tariff reduction and exemption, and their issuance efficiency directly determines the degree of convenience for enterprises to enjoy the benefits.

  Customs in various parts of Fujian are strengthening research on RCEP rules of origin and tariff reduction policies to help companies make good use of the import and export benefits policy, shorten the visa time and the time limit for enterprises to apply for permits, and help Fujian agricultural products and other specialty industries to expand overseas consumer market.

Since 2010, Fujian Province has filed 539 investment projects in RCEP member countries, with a total investment of US$8.21 billion in China’s agreement.

By the end of 2020, Fujian enterprises had set up 8 overseas economic and trade cooperation parks in Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, with a cumulative investment of US$640 million.

  At present, Fujian is speeding up the construction of a modern industrial system and has cultivated 21 industrial clusters with an output value of over 100 billion yuan.

Huang Maoxing, a professor at the School of Economics of Fujian Normal University, believes that RCEP will help Fujian unblock the regional industrial chain and supply chain, better connect the two domestic and international markets and two resources, and shape new advantages in foreign economic and trade cooperation.
