China News Service, Chongqing, January 1 (Reporter Liu Xianglin) The reporter learned from the Chongqing Council for the Promotion of International Trade on the 1st that the meeting issued Chongqing’s first batch of "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement" (RCEP) certificates of origin on the same day.

This batch of export products are chemical raw materials, etc. The total value of the goods is 120,600 US dollars. The export destination is Japan, and the tariff reduction of products exported to Japan in the first year is 0.4%.

  In November 2020, after 8 years and 31 rounds of formal negotiations, the 10 ASEAN countries and China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand formally signed RCEP, aiming to establish a unified market by reducing tariffs and non-tariff barriers.

The RCEP agreement covers approximately 30% of the world’s population, 30% of the total economic output, and 30% of foreign trade. It is currently the world’s largest and most dynamic free trade zone. It will come into effect on January 1, 2022.

At 0:00 on January 1, 2022, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade officially launched the issuance of the RCEP certificate of origin, using full electronic issuance and providing independent certificate printing services.

  RCEP countries are important economic and trade partners of Chongqing.

In the past five years, the scale of import and export trade between Chongqing and RCEP member countries has continued to expand, from 127 billion yuan in 2016 to 204.3 billion yuan in 2020, with an average annual growth rate of 12.6%.

From January to October 2021, the import and export volume between Chongqing and RCEP member states was RMB 190.72 billion, an increase of 15.1% year-on-year, accounting for 29.6% of the city's foreign trade import and export volume during the same period.

  The relevant person in charge of the Chongqing Council for the Promotion of International Trade stated that the meeting will strictly follow the RCEP rules of origin and visa operation procedures, do a high-standard issuance work, actively carry out publicity and promotion, increase the influence of the CCPIT certificate of origin issuance, and carry out international operations for Chongqing enterprises Provide service guarantee.

  According to reports, in 2021, the Chongqing Council for the Promotion of International Trade handled 3,685 certificates of origin for various free trade agreements, with a visa amount of US$307.6671 million, and a tariff reduction of US$15,383,300 for enterprises in the target country.
