  In Western Guangdong, Jiangmenguan District, where the total amount of soy sauce exports ranks first in the country, the customs broker of Lee Kum Kee, a leading condiment company, is also preparing to export to Japan to enjoy the RCEP New Deal.

  Liu Xiaojian, deputy manager of the company’s logistics department, said that Japan is one of the most important markets for Lee Kum Kee’s exports, and the value of exports in 2021 will exceed 100 million yuan.

The four types of products exported to Japan, including seasoning sauces, sesame paste, soy sauce and vinegar, will be eligible for Japanese tariff concessions after the agreement takes effect, and the tariffs will be reduced year by year to zero.

  Taking the company’s largest export value of seasoning sauces to Japan as an example, the basic tax rate will be reduced from 10.5% to 9.8% on January 1, 2022, and will be reduced again to 9.2% on April 1, which can be exported to Japan. Enjoy a tariff concession of 1.41 million yuan, which greatly reduces the cost of customs clearance and improves the competitiveness of trade with Japan.

Companies predict that in 2022, the company's exports of Japanese condiments will increase by 3% to 5%.

  RCEP was initiated by the ten ASEAN countries, inviting China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and other countries to participate in it, and establish a unified free trade market by reducing tariffs and non-tariff barriers.

The entry into force of RCEP indicates that the free trade zone with the largest population, the largest economic and trade scale, and the most diverse entities in the world will officially operate. Trade in goods in the region may be immediately or gradually reduced to zero, and eventually more than 90% of the trade in goods in the region will be realized. Zero tariffs will greatly help the region to enlarge the industrial chain and the agglomeration effect of the supply chain, and realize the link and upgrade of production capacity between Chinese enterprises and countries in the region.

  According to statistics, the total value of Guangdong's imports and exports to RCEP member states from January to November 2021 was 2.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.9% year-on-year, of which the value of imports and exports to Japan was 421.1 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% year-on-year.

  According to the person in charge of the Shantou Customs Tariff Department, China has signed bilateral free trade agreements with ASEAN, South Korea, New Zealand and other countries before. Therefore, the tariff reduction arrangement between China and Japan is the biggest highlight of RCEP tariff reduction.

Taking the Shantou Customs District as an example, ceramics, textiles and other products exported to Japan will benefit after the agreement takes effect.

  According to the person in charge of the Comprehensive Business Office of the Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs, in order to help more companies seize the "golden opportunity" of RCEP, the customs in Guangdong Province carried out policy publicity and interpretation through customs enterprise micro-classes, online training, and door-to-door policy. In-depth on-site guidance of key enterprises, support enterprises to make good use of the RCEP tax concession policy, improve the international competitiveness of products, and expand the scale of import and export of superior products.

  At the same time, the Guangdong Customs has launched the RCEP Origin Management 3.0 project in accordance with the deployment requirements of the General Administration of Customs.
