  The Changzhou-Wuxi section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou South Expressway is located in southern Jiangsu, crossing the Taihu Lake and constructing the second expressway between Shanghai and Nanjing. It is the “fifteen shots” of the “15 shots, six vertical and ten horizontal” expressways in Jiangsu Province. An important part, it is also the main road of intercity traffic in the Yangtze River Delta.

  The Changzhou-Wuxi section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou South Expressway starts from Qianhuang Town, Changzhou, crosses the Xilicao River and Xinchang Railway, crosses the Xiyi Expressway, passes through the Yaoxian Mountain and enters the Wuxi Mashan area, and crosses the Meiliang Lake of Taihu Lake. It ends at Nanquan and connects to Wuxi Taihu Lake Expressway, with a total length of 43.90 kilometers (22.43 kilometers in Wuxi section and 21.47 kilometers in Changzhou section). The entire line adopts two-way six-lane expressway standard construction.

There are 7 interchanges across the line, 2 road tunnels in Taihu Lake and Yaoxian Mountain, 1 Taihu Bay service area, 2 clearing rescue sites, and 4 interchange ramp toll stations.

Among them, the 10.79-kilometer Taihu Tunnel is currently the longest underwater tunnel in China. The cross-section adopts the form of a folded arch with two holes and one tube gallery. The clear width of the driving holes on both sides is 17.45 meters, the clear height is 7.25 meters, and the tube gallery is in the middle.

During the construction process, the Taihu Tunnel was constructed section by section using a cofferdam in the water. Steel plate (pipe) piles were laid on the cofferdam with a total length of 42,000 meters. The total volume of concrete poured reached more than 2 million cubic meters. The excavation of the tunnel foundation pit reached more than 10 million. square.

  In addition, the builders also combined the Taihu Lake's sky and water with the endless outline of the landscape, and designed and brightened the air outlets on both sides of the Taihu Tunnel as "jasper snails" and "painting boat" wind pavilions under the condition of satisfying the use function. The wind pavilion is perfectly presented among the green trees and green waves, making it a beautiful scenery line in the waters of Taihu Lake.

  It is reported that according to the plan, the opening ceremony of the Changzhou-Wuxi section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou South Expressway will be held in the near future.
