So far, the total operating mileage of Wuhan rail transit has reached 435 kilometers, ranking first in Central China and top ten in the world.

At the same time, Line 5 and Line 16 respectively extend to Qingshan District and Hannan District of the city, realizing the full coverage of rail transit in the city.

  The total mileage of the three lines opened on that day reached 75 kilometers, setting the record for the longest mileage of Wuhan Metro in history.

Up to now, Wuhan's rail transit network has increased to 11 lines and 282 stations.

  According to Chen Kun, the first-level project manager of the Wuhan Metro Group Construction Business Headquarters, Metro Line 5 is an important backbone line in Wuhan’s rail transit network, and it is also the first fully automated subway line in Wuhan. The goal of full coverage of urban subways is to effectively alleviate traffic congestion in the central city of Wuchang and improve traffic conditions in the Qingshan area.

  Line 6 is an important backbone crossing the Hanjiang River in Wuhan's rail transit network. The first phase (Dongfeng Company-Jinyinhu Park) has been opened to traffic, and the second phase connects Wujiashan Sub-center, Dongxihu New Town Group and Hankou Commercial District , Greatly shorten the time and space distance between the east and west lake area and the main urban area.

  Known as the "Most Beautiful River Metro", Line 16 is built along the Yangtze River and has a maximum operating speed of 120 km/h. It is currently the fastest subway in Wuhan.

The line has 5 elevated stations and 7 underground stations, some of which pass through the Wuhan Fourth Ring Line, Zhuankou Yangtze River Bridge and cross the Dongjing River, Dajun Mountain, and Xiaojun Mountain. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Yangtze River and experience the unique landform of the city. .

After the opening of the line, the whole journey from Hannan District to the central city of Wuhan only takes 30 minutes, realizing a fast link between the new city and the main city.

  In addition to the opening of the three lines, on the same day, Wuhan Rail Transit Xingang Line Phase I, Line 5 Phase II, Line 16 Phase II, Line 12 Connection Line Project and Rail Transit Information Cloud Platform Project started construction on the same day.

According to statistics, there are currently 13 rail transit lines under construction in Wuhan with a total mileage of 229 kilometers.

  Since the first phase of Wuhan Rail Transit Line 1 project opened in 2004, so far, the entire network has safely transported more than 7 billion passengers.

According to Sun Xiaoli, an expert from Wuhan Transportation Development Strategy Research Institute, Wuhan Metro currently covers about 40% of the city’s commuter population. Rail transit has become the preferred mode of public transportation. With the opening of three lines, rail transit is expected to be in the city’s public transportation system. The passenger flow sharing rate reached more than 55%.

  Sun Xiaoli believes that Wuhan has built a competitive rail transit backbone network and has entered a new stage of building a world-class metro city.
