Located between Baoxing County and Xiaojin County in Sichuan, Jiajin Mountain is a large mountain in the middle of Qionglai Mountain Range. The mountain is white and snow-capped.

  Currently, National Highway 351 is the only way to cross Jiajin Mountain, and the Jiajinshan Pass is as high as 4,100 meters above sea level.

Affected by snow and ice every winter, there will be three months of traffic control, during which only small cars can pass, and the passage of trucks and large passenger cars is prohibited, which greatly restricts the production and life of local people and severely restricts regional economic and social development.

  Li Ping, the secretary of Jiajin Village, Dawei Town, felt very deeply about this.

He told reporters that the village develops rural tourism, and business is very good from May to October every year, and from late October to April, due to heavy snow on the mountains and traffic control, there are few tourists, and the villagers have to close business. We have been looking forward to the tunnel for many years!"

  The reporter learned that the Jiajinshan Tunnel on National Highway 351 starts at Borigou, Tibetan Township, Qiaoqi, Baoxing County, Ya'an City, and ends at Tangjiashan, Dawei Town, Xiaojin County, Aba Prefecture.

The total investment of the project is 1.773 billion yuan, and the construction period is 4 years. The Ministry of Transport has included the project in the road "14th Five-Year" development plan, and will provide more than 400 million yuan of support in accordance with the "14th Five-Year" investment policy.

The total length of the project is 9.35 kilometers, which is the longest tunnel among ordinary secondary roads in China, with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

After the project is completed, the mileage will be shortened by 34 kilometers, and the travel time will be shortened from the original 1 hour to 10 minutes.

  "Constrained by environmental factors, topography and geological conditions, and construction period, the design and construction of the Jiajinshan Tunnel is extremely difficult." Zhu Xuelei, deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Transportation, said that the project involves the Giant Panda National Park Reserve and the core of the World Natural Heritage. Areas, Jiajin Mountain National Forest Park and other environmentally sensitive areas, the ecological environment is fragile.

In addition, the tunnel traverses the Xiaojin arc-shaped structural belt with a buried depth of 1,400 meters. Potential unfavorable geological problems such as rock bursts, water inrush, large deformation, and gas are prominent. The surrounding vegetation is rich and the forest fire prevention pressure is high.

  In this context, the Sichuan Provincial Highway Design Institute fully implements the "green environmental protection" design concept, appoints a number of design masters and senior experts, adopts advanced technologies such as oblique photography and full-process digital design, and concentrates on researching key problems to complete the design work accurately and efficiently.

In order to save the construction period, the project adopts the horizontal guide TBM+ main tunnel drilling and blasting method construction method, two-way synchronous excavation, after the horizontal guide is penetrated, four working surfaces are opened laterally, which will greatly improve the operation efficiency and accelerate the project progress.

  Zhu Xuelei said that the construction of the Jiajinshan Tunnel is an important part of carrying forward the spirit of the Long March and earnestly fulfilling the theme of "I do practical things for the masses" of party history learning and education. It is also a major popular project and a moral and political project.

The project is of great significance for completely eliminating traffic bottlenecks in the Jiajinshan Yueling Section, optimizing the regional road network, improving the security and emergency protection capabilities of the passage, driving the development of advantageous resources along the route, consolidating and expanding the results of poverty alleviation, and promoting the revitalization and development of the old revolutionary area.
