Launched in 1996, the Elise saved Lotus from bankruptcy while the manufacturer struggled with models that were hardly successful.
Relatively inexpensive, very light and swift, it used the adage of Colin Chapman, founder of the company: "Light is right".
Followed a few years later by the Exige, its more extreme coupe version, it had a very good career spanning 26 years all the same, through a few changes and a plethora of original Rover, then Toyota mechanics. .
Launched in 2009, the Evora was intended to be much more GT in its philosophy to titillate models like the Porsche Cayman or the Nissan 370 Z. Equipped with a 3-liter Toyota V6, it was designed for everyday use.
Together, these three models were produced in 51,738 copies, which is very honorable for a small manufacturer like Lotus.
For the record, the Elise even lent its platform to various models from other manufacturers, such as the Opel Speedster or the very first Tesla, the Roadster!
