The Abu Dhabi Community Cooperative announced yesterday the launch of the first online community store in the region, enabling its shareholders and all shoppers to obtain the proceeds of their own purchases from the store.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Community Cooperative, Ali Al Salloum, said during a press conference that the “Hout.ae” store launched with about 100,000 products in its first phase, and is currently working on increasing the number of products and expanding consumer options, in order to reach one million product by the end of next year.
He added that the store provides many foodstuffs, electronics, clothing, accessories, home and office supplies, books, health products, and children's needs, as well as services for travel and camping supplies, trips, sports, and various social events.
Al Salloum stressed that the store provides shopping experiences, the proceeds of which go to consumers who shop from the store, even if they are not members of the Abu Dhabi Community, as well as benefit the community through cooperative initiatives and projects that will focus in the sectors of health, education, job and social empowerment, In addition to the revenues that contribute to the growth of the "cooperative", and the expansion of its services to the public.
Al Salloum expected that the number of shareholders would reach 100,000 community members by the first quarter of 2022, and that the number would rise to at least 200,000 contributors before the end of 2022.
Al Salloum stressed that the store offers various products and services at reasonable prices, to support the national economy and strengthen competition in the markets, pointing out that there is a supervisory committee affiliated with the “cooperative” to approve the offered products after verifying the assurance of their high quality level.
He pointed out that the store handles a 24-hour delivery service in all emirates of the country through three warehouses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai currently, and intends to raise the number to 17 warehouses, next year, to ensure the speed of delivery of products.
It is noteworthy that the "Abu Dhabi Community Cooperative" was established in 2019 under a ministerial decision issued by the Ministry of Economy, under the sponsorship and empowerment of the "Emirates Community Empowerment Company", which works to promote the concept of social innovation, to improve the quality of life of the population in the country, by providing community frameworks capable of reporting In the nature of the population's choices, and the development of life mechanisms commensurate with the requirements of economic security and societal well-being.
