Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station is the second power station in Tiantai County after Tongbai Pumped Storage Power Station. It is also the largest single-investment project in the county's history, with a total investment of 10.74 billion yuan.
The project is located in Tantou Town and Yongxi Township, Tiantai County. The power station has 4 installed power stations. The single-unit capacity is the largest in the country, with a total installed capacity of 1.25 million kilowatts. The total installed capacity is 1.7 million kilowatts. The rated water head is 724 meters. .
Tiantai County, as a "bridgehead" opened to the north of Taizhou, Zhejiang, is located at the intersection of the four major metropolitan areas in Zhejiang. This site is responsible for the tasks of peak shaving, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation and spinning reserve in the "three provinces and one city" power grid in the Yangtze River Delta. It is extremely advantageous to cooperate with large-scale nuclear power and thermal power operations along the coast of eastern Zhejiang.
It is reported that after the completion of Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped-storage Power Station, it is expected to generate 1.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which can save about 520,000 tons of coal consumption in the power system of Zhejiang Power Grid and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.04 million tons.
