Criminal Chamber of the National Court
withdraws the accusation against the former president of BBVA
Francisco González
for a crime of unfair administration. In this way, he admits the recourse of the former manager in the framework of the 'Villarejo case' and maintains that he should not be investigated by this criminal type due to the "scant nature" of the accusation that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has poured on him in relation to this crime and that is limited to the commissioning of the commissioner's companies of a registry analysis of a property that he was interested in acquiring.
The Third Section of the Criminal Chamber now considers that "if it is proven, the conduct to be investigated would have, given its scant entity, a negligible impact on the assets of society", referring to BBVA, "and the reputational risk ".
Likewise, it rules out the existence of "appreciable harm to shareholders or to the economy in general."
This specific accusation related to the commission "allegedly carried out" by González "in 2013 or 2014 to a manager of the entity to carry out inquiries about the situation of a farm that he intended to acquire on a personal basis and in the supposed payment with bank funds, once such efforts were carried out ".

, continues to be charged since 2019 for bribery and disclosure of secrets in the also called 'Tandem case' for resorting to the services of the former high command of the police for alleged espionage work on the group headed by businessman Luis Del Rivero, who tried to take control of the bank with the support of the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
