Xinhua News Agency, Tianjin, December 22 (Reporters Mao Zhenhua, Liang Zi) Dagang Oilfield has achieved new breakthroughs in the exploration and development of continental shale oil.

The reporter learned from the Dagang Oilfield in Tianjin on the 22nd that the shale oil production of the oilfield has reached 100,000 tons in 2021, and the current daily output has stabilized at more than 300 tons.

"This is another milestone achievement made by Dagang Oilfield in the large-scale and profitable exploration and development of continental shale oil after the three major shale formations in the Bohai Bay Basin have fully achieved industrial development breakthroughs." Dagang Oilfield Company's new project Said Chen Changwei, business manager.

Shale oil can be divided into marine shale oil and continental shale oil. my country is rich in continental shale oil reserves, mainly distributed in the Bohai Bay, Songliao, Junggar and other large sedimentary basins.

The development and construction of Dagang Oilfield began in 1964, and it is the third oil and gas field independently developed by New China after Daqing and Shengli.

The exploration area of this oilfield is rich in shale oil resources, and related explorations began as early as 2013. However, due to the constraints of theoretical understanding, evaluation methods, and engineering technology, industrialization breakthroughs have not been achieved.

The completion of stable production of two shale oil wells until 2019 indicates that my country has taken the lead in realizing the industrial development of continental shale oil in the Bohai Bay Basin.

Chen Changwei said that in the past three years, Dagang Oilfield has continued to deepen the key technology research for high and stable production of shale oil.

Supported by new theoretical and technological innovations, shale oil development has achieved multiple breakthroughs.

Since the beginning of the year, Dagang Oilfield has promoted the three major projects of increasing the production of new shale oil wells, stabilizing the production of old wells, and taking measures to increase production. Four high-yield wells with a daily output of over 100 cubic meters have been obtained in the second section of the Cangdong Sag, with a maximum daily output of 208 cubic meters.

"As of now, the cumulative production of shale oil in Dagang Oilfield has exceeded 180,000 tons, and this year's output has reached 100,000 tons, which has become an important resource for stabilizing and increasing production in the oilfield," said Chen Changwei.

The application of a series of new technologies has contributed to the steady decline of shale oil development costs, demonstrating good single-well production capacity and potential for economic benefits.
