When it opened in 1986, Nissan's Sunderland plant was assigned to assemble the Bluebird, a compact hatchback sedan.
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the debut of this production line, Nissan has just produced a fun concept car called Newbird.
It is in fact a Bluebird which has been converted to electric power by taking the powertrain of a Leaf, instead of the original 1.8 gasoline engine.
A great deal of adaptation work was carried out to install the battery with a capacity of 40 kWh, and the other components necessary for its proper functioning.
The engineers made a point of distributing the masses in an optimal way in order to guarantee good behavior to the car.
Nissan estimates its range at 209 km, and the exercise from 0 to 100 km / h would take about fifteen seconds.
The Newbird's charge port has been hidden under the gas hatch, while its fuel gauge has been changed to now show the battery level.
