Sales at department stores nationwide in November increased by 8% over the same month last year, increasing for the second straight month.

As the number of people infected with the new corona continued to decline, the number of customers returned, and sales of high-priced items such as watches and winter clothing were strong.

According to the Japan Department Stores Association, sales of 189 department stores nationwide in November were 8.1% higher than the same month last year when compared with existing stores.

Sales have increased for the second straight month.

While the number of people infected with the new corona is declining, the number of customers is returning, and high-priced items such as watches and jewelry are performing well. In addition, the temperature has dropped, so coats, jackets, sweaters, etc. Winter clothing was also strong, pushing up the whole.

Compared to the adult, which is before the corona, it is still about 7% lower, but excluding the so-called inbound portion for foreigners, sales are almost recovering to the level before the corona.

According to the Japan Department Store Association, "The situation is unpredictable, as infected people with Omicron strains have been confirmed in Japan, but we expect sales to recover further in December, when the year-end sales season is in full swing."
