Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group will launch a new organization in April next year to support corporate decarbonization measures.

The aim is to swiftly respond to the various issues faced by the companies of our business partners by having jurisdiction over the functions distributed across the banks and securities under our umbrella.

This was revealed in an interview with NHK by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group President Jun Ota.

Currently, each company such as banks and securities companies under the group has the function to support the decarbonization of companies, but President Ota has announced a policy to establish a new organization that has jurisdiction over these functions.

The new organization will be the headquarters that manages the decarbonization-related businesses that each company has developed individually, such as bank investment and financing, financing such as issuance of green bonds = environmental bonds of securities companies, and research and consulting of think tanks. , Will be installed in April next year.

By making it possible to provide a combination of the functions of each company, we aim to quickly respond to various corporate issues related to decarbonization.

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group President Ota said, "Customers have various concerns about decarbonization, such as disclosure of information and formulation of specific action plans. We will create a large organization that provides total support for the entire group. I will continue. "
