A major electric power company and a local government in Saga Prefecture have decided to embark on the development of a large-scale city that efficiently utilizes renewable energy.

In addition to building the largest electric vehicle charging park in Japan, we will also maintain storage batteries at public and private facilities.

According to the plan, Kyushu Electric Power and Kamimine Town in Saga Prefecture will develop public facilities, commercial facilities, and housing in an integrated manner on a land of approximately 60,000 square meters, which is the site of a commercial facility in the center of the town.

With the policy of creating a large-scale city that efficiently utilizes renewable energy toward a carbon-free society, we will develop a charging park for 100 electric vehicles, which is the largest in Japan.

In addition, we plan to install facilities such as solar power generation and storage batteries in the newly constructed gymnasium and martial arts hall, as well as roadside stations and child-rearing support facilities.

Within the Kyushu Electric Power jurisdiction, the major issue is how to reduce the "output control" that temporarily stops power generation when the amount of electricity generated by solar power generation increases too much.

In urban development, it is said that by operating it integrally with equipment such as storage batteries, it will be possible to improve the efficiency of electric power and prepare for the supply of electric power in the event of a disaster.

As the government aims to expand renewable energy, it is likely that attention will be paid to whether such urban development will spread nationwide as an advanced example.
