China News Service, December 22. The Beijing Municipal Taxation Bureau of the State Administration of Taxation and the Guangdong Provincial Taxation Bureau respectively issued notices on their official websites on the 22nd, stating that paying taxes in accordance with the law is the obligation of every citizen.

Public figures such as celebrities and webcasters must strictly abide by the tax law.

The circular pointed out that the taxation department has always adhered to laws and regulations and continued to strengthen taxation services and supervision.

In September this year, after the General Office of the State Administration of Taxation issued relevant notices, many celebrity artists and Internet anchor taxpayers took the initiative to contact the tax authorities to conduct self-examination and tax reimbursement.

For individuals who have been suspected of major tax evasion and refuse to cooperate in rectification after being reminded, urged, or warned, the taxation department has carried out tax audits in accordance with the law, and selected some key cases with serious circumstances for public exposure.

The circular requires that in order to further create a good environment for taxation in accordance with the law and integrity, star artists and webcasters who have not paid attention to their own tax-related issues or self-inspection and rectification have not been in place before, and should pay close attention to the tax law and relevant notification requirements to conduct self-examination, and by the end of 2021 Proactively report and correct tax-related issues to the taxation department, and the taxation department will lighten, mitigate or exempt tax penalties in accordance with the requirements of the notice.

If the self-inspection and self-correction are still refused or the self-inspection and self-correction are not thorough, the taxation department will seriously deal with it in accordance with laws and regulations.
