Iberdrola will expand its presence in the United States by having been awarded in Massachusetts -in the northwest of the country- the supply of electricity for the future Commonwealth Wind park, the third offshore wind tender in the State.
The 1,232 megawatt project will create the equivalent of 11,000 full-time jobs over the life of the project and generate enough power to supply 750,000 homes.
Commonwealth Wind is a megaproject with which Iberdrola is advancing towards its objective of expanding its presence in the United States, where there is a commitment to reach an installed capacity of 30,000 MW of offshore wind energy by 2030. In fact, the company already has under development Through its subsidiary Avangrid, Vineyard Wind One and Park City Wind parks.
Outside of offshore wind, investments to install both onshore and solar wind power have amounted to $ 15 billion.
The president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, has advanced that the portfolio of offshore wind energy projects in the United States could represent more than 15,000 million dollars of investment in the coming years.
