The ECB is saying goodbye to its trillion dollar pandemic crisis program.

The Governing Council decided on Thursday to let the bond program with the symbol PEPP expire at the end of March 2022.

This means that the central bank will no longer buy any additional paper from April.

The bond portfolio should then be kept constant until the end of 2024.

At the same time, the ECB is leaving the key interest rate in the euro area at the record low of zero percent.

That was decided by the council on Thursday, as announced by the central bank in Frankfurt.
