Heinrich Hiesinger will be the new head of the supervisory board at the automotive supplier ZF at the beginning of 2022.

The 61-year-old manager succeeds Franz-Josef Paefgen, who has held the position since 2017, as the Friedrichshafen-based company announced on Thursday.

The change is going according to plan and is "characterized by great continuity," said Paefgen.

His successor, Hiesinger, has been a member of the ZF Supervisory Board since the beginning of 2021 and was able to use the twelve months for training.

The long-standing Siemens board member Klaus Helmrich was newly appointed to the committee.

The future chairman of the supervisory board, Hiesinger, has a lot of experience with top positions in the industry.

Among other things, the 61-year-old headed the industrial and steel group Thyssen-Krupp as CEO from 2011 to 2018.

He has "outstanding qualifications to support the demanding transformation process of the technology group constructively," said the Friedrichshafen Mayor Andreas Brand, representing the Zeppelin Foundation, the company's main shareholder.

The ZF Group currently employs around 50,000 people in 53 locations across Germany.

Worldwide, ZF is represented at around 270 locations in 42 countries with more than 150,000 employees.
