A countermeasure meeting was held in which automobile manufacturers and semiconductor manufacturers participated to solve the serious shortage of semiconductors in the automobile industry, and new rules for manufacturing and supply are expected in anticipation of further increase in demand for semiconductors due to electrification of automobiles in the future. Will be discussed.

At the conference held in Tokyo on the 16th, more than 10 companies including major domestic automobile manufacturers, automobile parts manufacturers, and semiconductor manufacturers participated.

The conference was set up by the call of "SEMI Japan", an industry group of semiconductor-related industries, and Mr. Masahiko Hamashima said, "I hope this conference will be a bridge between each other's industries."

This time, the automobile industry faced a serious semiconductor shortage triggered by the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and was forced to reduce production on a large scale.

However, it is expected that the electrification of vehicles such as EV = electric vehicles will accelerate and the demand for semiconductors will further increase. We will discuss new rules regarding supply.

There are cases of such efforts overseas, but this is the first time in Japan.

Visiting Associate Professor Tsuguo Nobe of Nagoya University Future Society Creation Organization, who participates in the conference, said, "Cars are becoming more and more computerized and must coexist with the field of semiconductors, but it is difficult to coexist due to development ideas. There is an urgent need to deepen and share awareness of the problem. "
