Who can enter where and under what conditions has often changed in the wake of the corona pandemic.

2 G, 3 G or 2 G Plus?

This is currently handled differently from state to state and from industry to industry.

For unvaccinated bank customers, it now even depends on their respective house bank which services they can still use and which cannot.

According to the Infection Protection Act, banking services actually apply to everyday products.

And similar to supermarkets and pharmacies, all customers should have access to bank branches if they wear a medical mask and adhere to the rules of distance.

But some credit institutions are now going beyond these regulations.

Berliner Volksbank and Berliner Sparkasse are particularly strict when it comes to access rules to their branches for personal consultations.

Both capital city institutes only allow vaccinated and recovered customers into their branches for these appointments.

Volksbank writes about this on its homepage: “If you would like a personal consultation, we expect you to meet the 2-G rule (vaccinated or recovered).

Wearing a medical or FFP2 mask is still compulsory. ”A spokesman for the Berliner Sparkasse said at the request of the FAZ:“ Berliner Sparkasse introduced the 2-G rule for longer consultations during the current peak of the pandemic.

Alternatively, we are also happy to advise our customers online or by phone. "

3 G applies to many banks

However, this strict access regulation for counseling does not seem to be particularly widespread. At least in a brief survey of several credit institutions in the country, no other bank was found that had introduced 2-G rules. Why the two Berlin institutes are proceeding particularly strictly could not be learned from either house on Tuesday. Basically, there are currently no stricter rules for banks in Berlin.

Nevertheless, there are some institutes that also require 3-G evidence for mere access to the branches, i.e. either about the complete vaccination, recovery or a current negative test. The Volksbank Mittelhessen writes on its homepage: “The 3-G rule applies in our branches: vaccinated, recovered or tested. We guarantee that our employees are vaccinated, recovered or tested. Please show us the same respect. ”At the Berliner Volksbank, the way in is a little more robust: When entering our premises, we assume compliance with the 3-G rule (vaccinated, recovered or tested).

The Frankfurter Sparkasse will introduce the 3-G rule for "physical consultations" next Monday, as a spokeswoman for the FAZ said.

The public law institutes are currently exchanging information on the topic intensively.

"The different approach is certainly also due to the fact that the incidences are different in the various regions and municipalities." This in turn influences the state legal framework as well as the actual and perceived threat situation.

"Customers see it relaxed"

The 3-G rules for consultations have been in effect at Stadtsparkasse München for a few days. When customers make an appointment, they are advised that they must bring one of the three pieces of evidence with them. So far, this change has hardly been noticed, says a spokesman for the institute. “The customers are evidently quite relaxed about it. Many ask of their own accord whether they should bring proof with them. And many of our customers use public transport in Munich, which has been using 3G for a long time. "

But not all institutes consider access restrictions for the branches to be necessary. A spokesman for the Federal Association of Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken said: "As we understand it, banks are part of the basic needs, that is, the critical infrastructure, so that visiting a branch should also be possible with an FFP2 mask." the Postbank branches also count, said: “Our admission procedure for customers corresponds to the rules in other facilities for basic public services, such as food retailers or pharmacies. Accordingly, our customers are asked to wear FFP2 masks and to comply with the AHA rules and hygiene rules. ”And a Commerzbank spokesman said:“ We are currently not aware of any restrictive requirements. ”

The employees at Deutsche Bank and Postbank should check that the corona rules are being adhered to, "and, depending on the branch location, additional security personnel," as the spokesman says.

“In addition, when it comes to consultations, for example, we make sure that they do not take place in closed rooms or rooms that are too small.” In addition, since the beginning of the pandemic, more and more consultations have taken place virtually, for example by video or by telephone.
