CNNB, which specializes in direct-to-consumer e-commerce solutions, based in the UAE, revealed the results of its 2022 e-commerce report in the Middle East and North Africa.

The report indicates the growth of e-commerce sales in the region to 50 billion dollars (183.5 billion dirhams) during the next year.

The report indicated that the spending by online shoppers in the UAE is the highest in the region, where the spending rate reaches 1,648 dollars (6048 dirhams) per person, noting that 91% of customers in the Middle East and North Africa have become supportive of digital transformation and will continue to do so. In online shopping, and that 73% have become more online shopping since the beginning of the pandemic.

68% of customers in Egypt and 67% in the UAE indicated that they prefer to shop from brands that use sustainable ingredients, recyclable packaging and an eco-friendly manufacturing process compared to the global standard of 50%.

Shoppers in the region are looking forward to secure and seamless online payments, as more than 60% believe that secure payment is key to a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience.

The report confirmed that the growth path of e-commerce is about 38% annually.

CNN compiled the latest research and trends on the current state of e-commerce across the MENA region and its potential impact by 2022.
