  As a key project of the “Belt and Road” jointly built by China and Indonesia and a national strategic project in Indonesia, the Indonesian Giant Rupiah Nickel Industry, wholly invested and constructed by China Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry Company, is the third phase of the Indonesian Delong Industrial Park and is located in Sura, the country In North Morowali, Weixi Island, it is planned to build a ferronickel production line with an annual output of 1.8 million tons, equipped with self-provided power plants, docks and other auxiliary facilities.

  According to Zhou Yuan, general manager of Delong Industrial Park in Indonesia, the project adopts the most advanced ferronickel production technology in the world, and has strong advantages in energy saving and environmental protection, production cost and efficiency.

  Since the start of the project in 2019, the construction units of China and Indonesia have worked together to overcome a series of difficulties caused by the new crown epidemic, such as delayed equipment and material arrivals, insufficient construction personnel, shortage of production personnel, and tight schedules. In the heat and heavy rain, working overtime and rushing for the construction period ensured the progress of the project.

Zhou Yuan said that with the opening and production of the first submerged arc furnace, several submerged arc furnaces will be put into operation one after another, and tens of thousands of local Indonesian employees will be recruited.

  Indonesia Delong Industrial Park, located on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, is the first ferronickel and stainless steel industrial park of China Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. and China First Heavy Industry Group to deploy overseas.

The first phase invested US$1 billion to build a 600,000-tonne ferronickel smelting project; the second phase, together with Xiamen Xiangyu Group, invested US$2 billion to build an integrated ferronickel and stainless steel smelting project with an annual output of 3 million tons.

The first and second phases of the two major projects have previously been included in the China-Indonesia joint construction of the "Belt and Road" key project library and Indonesia's national strategic projects.
