Bitcoin rises 2.9% and breaks the 50 thousand dollar barrier

The cryptocurrency Bitcoin rose 2.9% to break the $50,000 mark.

Trading volume reached $682.4 million in the past 24 hours, or 41 percent of the 20-day average, according to data reported by Bloomberg News.

Prices fluctuated by 3.2% since 5 pm New York time, to be traded between 48 thousand and 681 dollars and 50 thousand and 241 dollars.

Bitcoin is now 27 percent off its November high of $68,992.
