• The Montpellier start-up Greenkub manufactures extensions to wooden houses.

  • These modules, thanks to a very specific assembly ", make it possible to preserve the thermal insulation of the houses, assures the Hérault company, in full expansion.

  • According to the founder of the start-up, with successive confinements that we have experienced in recent months, we tend to want to reinvent our interiors.

If there is, in Montpellier (Hérault), a company that the crisis has not weighed down, it is Greenkub. Since 2013, this start-up, whose turnover has doubled year after year in recent years, has been designing and installing wooden living spaces in private gardens. And with the successive confinements that we have experienced in recent months, we tend to want to reinvent our interiors.

"People, being much more at home, have had the time to focus on their living environment," says Alexandre Gioffredy, the founder of Greenkub.

All the more so with the development of teleworking, owners want to create spaces dedicated to this new way of working.

"To this health context linked to the Covid-19 epidemic is added, continues the business manager, the emergence of self-employed entrepreneurs," who wish to develop a space adapted to their new activity ".

Thermal tightness maintained

When it was created, Greenkub designed independent studios, in the gardens, in order to allow the owners of, why not, to have an additional income by renting it.

But in recent months, the Hérault start-up has added a new string to its bow: it creates wooden extensions adjoining houses.

These modules, between 11 and 40 m2, can be personalized according to what the customer wants to add to their home (a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, etc.), cost between 23,000 and 68,000 euros approximately.

And the thermal tightness is preserved, indicates Alexandre Gioffredy, thanks to "a very specific assembly with a joint base and silicone sealant which makes it possible to maintain perfect insulation".

If the extension of the house does not exceed 20 m2, there is no need to apply for a building permit, only to file a declaration of works.

But the paperwork, Greenkub takes care of it from A to Z. Once the procedures are completed and the module built in the company's workshops, “a house extension of 20 m2, as a rule, can be installed in five days. », Explains the entrepreneur.
