Recently, the customs of many places in China announced the growth of import and export trade volume in the past 20 years since China's accession to the WTO.

  The reporter learned that since China's entry into the WTO, Zhejiang's total import and export of goods has increased from US$32.8 billion in 2001 to US$487.93 billion in 2020, with an average annual compound growth rate of 15.3%.

Among them, the total export volume soared by nearly 16 times.

By 2020, Zhejiang's export scale will be close to the total retail sales of consumer goods, which is equivalent to recreating an "overseas Zhejiang" and becoming an important force in international trade.

  Statistics show that Zhejiang’s foreign direct investment has increased from US$2.21 billion in 2001 to US$15.78 billion in 2020; foreign direct investment has increased from US$33.506 million to US$12.56 billion, an increase of nearly 375 times, with an average annual compound growth rate of 36.6%.

  The reporter learned from Tianjin Customs on the 10th that Tianjin’s foreign trade has developed rapidly since China’s entry into the WTO 20 years ago. The volume of import and export trade has increased from 150.37 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2001 to 736.79 billion yuan in 2020, an increase of 390%.

  The scale of import and export reached a new level.

In 2004, the import and export scale of Tianjin's foreign trade exceeded 300 billion yuan, and by 2012 it had exceeded 700 billion yuan; from January to November this year, the import and export scale of Tianjin's foreign trade reached 776.22 billion yuan.

  The trade structure continued to be optimized.

In the 20 years since China's entry into the WTO, the proportion of Tianjin's general trade has increased significantly, and the proportion of total imports and exports has increased from 31.3% in 2001 to 57.1% in 2020.

From January to November this year, Tianjin imported and exported 441.46 billion yuan in general trade, an increase of 14.5%, the highest value since the "WTO" in 20 years; trading partners are more diversified: since the "WTO", countries that have trade with Tianjin (Regions) increased from 183 in 2001 to 219 in 2020.

  According to statistics released by Chengdu Customs on the 11th, since China’s entry into the WTO 20 years ago, Sichuan’s import and export trade volume has increased from 32.48 billion yuan in 2001 to 808.19 billion yuan in 2020, an increase of 23.9 times and an average annual growth rate of 16.8%.

  The structure of Sichuan's export products continued to upgrade.

Over the past 20 years since China’s entry into the WTO, Sichuan’s exports of mechanical and electrical products have grown at an average annual rate of 11.2%, and their share of total exports has increased from 19.3% in 2001 to 87.8% in 2020.

From January to November this year, exports of mechanical and electrical products amounted to 420.18 billion yuan, an increase of 13.4%, accounting for 82.7% of Sichuan’s total foreign trade exports during the same period.

  From January to November this year, the total import and export value of Sichuan's goods trade was 853.86 billion yuan, ranking 8th in the country, an increase of 16.2% over the same period of the previous year, which has exceeded the entire year of 2020.

  In the past 20 years, the proportion of Sichuan's private enterprises' trade has increased significantly, and the proportion of total imports and exports has increased from 9.7% in 2001 to 22.8% in 2020; from January to November this year, the proportion has further increased to 27.1%.

  The reporter learned from Shenzhen Customs on the 10th that since China’s accession to the WTO in 2001, Shenzhen has continued to open up to the outside world. Import and export trade volume has climbed from 568.18 billion yuan in 2001 to 3.05 trillion yuan in 2020, an increase of 436.9%, with an average annual growth rate during the period. Up to 9.2%.

  It is understood that since China's accession to the World Trade Organization, the number of countries (regions) that have trade with Shenzhen has increased from 192 in 2001 to 234 in 2020.

In 2020, Shenzhen's import and export value with the United States, the European Union, South Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom accounted for 30.9% of Shenzhen's total import and export value during the same period.

  In the first 10 months of this year, Shenzhen’s imports and exports reached 2.81 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%, and continued to show a good momentum of steady growth.

Under the influence of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Shenzhen's foreign trade in 2020 will maintain a growth rate of 2.4%, and its import and export scale will reach 3.05 trillion yuan, accounting for 9.5% of China's total foreign trade import and export value.

  At the same time, the proportion of private enterprises in the overall import and export increased from 3.5% in 2001 to 59.4% in 2020.

Since 2016, private enterprises have become the largest foreign trade entity in Shenzhen.

The structure of Shenzhen's export products continues to upgrade, from simple processing and assembly links with low added value to links with higher value-added research and development, branding, design, logistics, and marketing.
