In early December, the China-aided Cambodian National Highway No. 11 reconstruction and expansion project undertaken by China Road and Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. was officially opened to traffic.

The Cambodian side highly appraised the construction of the project.

The project is located in the central part of Cambodia, connecting the main Cambodian national highway and passing through Prey Veng and Teben Kemung provinces. The total length of the road is 96.48 kilometers.

The Minister of State and Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, Sun Zhanto, stated that the completion of the National Highway No. 11 reconstruction and expansion project will further improve Cambodia’s national highway network, greatly improve Cambodia’s traffic conditions and promote tourism, employment, and economic and trade development along the route. Cambodia has provided tremendous help and support in the implementation of infrastructure construction and the promotion of people’s livelihood projects.

After the completion of the project, the original severely damaged road was upgraded and transformed into a smoother asphalt concrete pavement, which improved the safety and comfort of the road.

The original travel time of nearly three hours on the entire line has been shortened by half, and the local agriculture, trade, transportation and other industries have been further developed under the favorable conditions of smooth traffic.

According to Zhou Yong, assistant to the general manager of China Road and Bridge and general manager of the Cambodia office, the National Highway No. 11 reconstruction and expansion project is an important livelihood project in Cambodia.

During the construction of the project, China Road and Bridge directly employed more than 1,100 local workers, overcoming the impact of the severe epidemic and achieving high-quality completion 11 months ahead of schedule, reflecting China's speed and quality.

The completion of the project has not only improved the Cambodian road network, but also improved the level of roads in the region through the use of Chinese standards.

According to reports, since entering the Cambodian market in 2001, China Road and Bridge has built a total of 1924.5 kilometers of highways and transferred 17 infrastructure projects to the people’s livelihood.

A number of key livelihood projects such as Highway 6, Highway 76, Shuijinghua New Bridge Project, and Road 3 reconstruction and expansion have been completed, and important projects such as Highway 1551, Highway 146B and 148, and Jingang Expressway are being actively promoted.
