While an alleged member of the commando involved in the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was arrested Tuesday, December 7 in Paris, Mohammed Ben Salman is on tour in the Gulf.

After Oman, the Saudi Crown Prince went to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, but also, and for the first time since 2017, to Qatar, which had been targeted by a blockade by Riyadh and other regional capitals.

It has been almost four years since Mohammed Ben Salman visited Qatar.

Riyadh and Tehran have resumed direct talks since April.

Turkey is also seeking to reconnect with its old rivals in the region: Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In Doha, Mohammed Ben Salman must also succeed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who came to meet the Emir of Qatar on Tuesday, December 7.
